In the U.S. alone, we use more than 500 million plastic straws every day, and most of them end up in our oceans, polluting the water and harming marine life. Boaters can stop this problem - #skipthestraw and go straight for the drink. Don’t let their cute eyes fool you! The peacock mantis #shrimp has one of the most powerful punches in the animal kingdom. Its club-like appendages can strike with the speed of a bullet, reaching up to 23 metres per second (about 50 miles per hour). This punch is so forceful that it can break through the shells of #crabs, #clams, and even aquarium glass. The speed of the strike also creates cavitation bubbles, which produce a second impact when they collapse, effectively doubling the mantis shrimp's punch power. ~~~~ #ScubaDiving #Liveaboard #DiveTrips #liveaboardlife #MarineBiodiversity #seacritters #UWPMacro
