Is our logo a cheap ripoff of Sailing La Vagabonde? Did we use their old wooden helm as a circle? We actively follow more than 80 other sailing channels and combined they use almost every part of a boat, so, it is difficult to find something sailing related :-) But none of them uses the instrument a sailor stares at the most on watch during a passage...the wind indicator. The problem with ALL wind indicators is that they discriminate against Catamarans! So, we decided to speak up for the minority group :-) We broke the monohull's nose to form two hulls ;-) go catamarans! It is the real, and on scale, top view of the Leopard 45 Catamaran. Oh, yes, to give it personal touch, Petro and Frik are profiled to say it is our channel, our logo. Thank you for all our subscribers! We want to visit off the beaten tack places and need to prepare for ice bergs, storms, heavy seas, as well as nice tranquil tropical waters... Follow us on our journey as we learn from legends when Sailing La Vagabonde upgraded from a monohull to a catamaran...SV Delos wants to upgrade to the latest Amel 51 monohull....Gone with the Wynns chose a Leopard Catamaran....choices choices choices. We looked at other sailing channels such as Wicked Salty, Satori, Jessica and Ryan, Catamaran Impi, MJ Sailing, Happy Together, Sailing Uma, Sailing Yacht Ruby Rose, Zingaro, Miss Lone Star, Sailing Doodles, Drenched, Lucky Fish gets Away, RAN Sailing, Out Chasing Star, Follow the Boat, Rigging Doctor, Sailing Lady Africa, Abandon Comfort, and many others to find our answers and solutions, whilst we prepared our yacht in Cape Town, South Africa.

All American Marine is the exclusive manufacturer for Teknicraft Design™ in North America. The Wakatere, Teknicraft’s proven hydrofoil-assisted catamaran pilot boat, currently operates in the Port of Auckland, New Zealand. We work with each of our operators to design and construct their vessel to the highest quality, best value and superior performance for any vessel in its respective class. This Pilot Boat design will perform with EPA Tier3 engines. Other traditional monohull boats require more power and T4, which don’t fit! Wakatere is the first foil-assisted catamaran pilot boat in Australia or New Zealand. Built by Q-West of New Zealand, this unique catamaran design incorporates Teknicraft’s hydrofoil supported hull, and has a fuel consumption of less than 1 gal/nm fuel when cruising at 28 knots. With a top speed of over 40 knots it can reach a ship, and be ready to transfer a pilot within a short time.

We were in the midst of making a mistake, much like last winter. Fully engaged in various projects, a screwdriver here, a wrench there... and suddenly, we place something on our beautifully lacquered dining table, causing deep scratches on the tabletop ✨ We’ve agreed that we bought the boat to use it, so it’s not like we’re walking on tiptoes to avoid wear and tear on the boat. Where we can, we take preventive measures. Therefore, the dining table, which has turned into a work table over the winter, has been covered with an old tablecloth to avoid unnecessary wear 🛠️ The scratches and marks we’ve made throughout the boat are annoying when they happen. One tells oneself, “if only I had done it this way, it would never have happened.” But we’ve gotten better at saying “oh well,” and as time goes on, the scars remind us of a specific time or episode aboard the boat ⛵️
