A New Top Speed for the SP80 team trying to beat the World Sailing Speed Record! What was it? Watch the reel to find out. ▫️ Join the quest at @sp80record ▫️ "The foil is key to breaking the record" - explains Benoît Gaudiot, COO and SP80 kite pilot. “We wanted to quickly test a simplified version on the water and learn as much as possible before finalizing the design of the record foil, which is more complex and costly to produce."  ▫️ "Now that we have data from the boat at high speeds, we can refine our simulations and launch the production of the final foil with much more information than we had a few months ago!” ▫️ The boat will return to the shipyard in September to improve safety systems around the pilots and integrate the new foil. ► Essai dans Multicoque Mag 219: https://www.multicoques-mag.com/essais/catamaran/outremer-52-la-quintessence-du-catamaran-hauturier ► Pour ce nouveau 52, le chantier a tenu à s’entourer de l’expertise des architectes VPLP et de grands noms du design français (Patrick Le Quément, Darnet Design, Saguez & Partners), mais également du savoir-faire du chantier Gunboat (également membre du Groupe Grand Large Yachting), lequel a permis de réduire le poids de la structure tout en conservant une résistance à toute épreuve. Ceci a permis d’augmenter les surfaces vitrées et les ouvertures dans le catamaran. Dans le but de faciliter la maîtrise de l’Outremer 52, les manœuvres peuvent être ramenées dans le cockpit. A l’instar de l’Outremer 55, la barre à roue, positionnée à tribord, garantit un parfait contrôle du multicoque avec une visibilité exceptionnelle sur les voiles. Elle peut aussi se mettre en position basse dans le cockpit afin de se protéger du soleil ou par mauvais temps. Les deux barres franches restent opérationnelles à l’arrière des coques. A l’intérieur, on appréciera la banquette de veille face à la marche, les quatre ouvertures à l’avant du carré, et la baie vitrée XXL qui s’ouvre sur le cockpit. L’Outremer 52 se décline en trois finitions – Life, Nomad et Sportline.
