Le public était bien présent - les édiles également ! La marraine du SeaKite, Isabelle Autissier, a encourager à de nouveaux usages plus responsables en termes écologiques tout en encourageant la technologie et le recherche à mettre en place de nouvelles solutions décarbonées. ► L'ancien catamaran à gréement double dont les coques sont dotées de redans – à la manière des flotteurs d’hydravion - est bien devenu un multicoque expérimental propulsé par des ailes de kite à écoulement laminaire réalisée en Vectran® – ces voiles devraient assurer une excellente remontée au vent. Le catamaran est également doté de turbines biomimétiques de l’entreprise ADV Propulse. Ces dernières permettront de produire de l’électricité « sous kite » (600 W à 6 nœuds) et de propulser (2 x 15 kW en 48 V) le multicoque lorsque les conditions seront incompatibles avec l’envoi de l’aile. Des panneaux solaires sont également en place. Le catamaran démarre donc sa deuxième carrière et devrait profiter des feux de la rampe – festival Win for Good à Saint-Nazaire, Jeux olympiques de 2024 à Marseille et départ du Vendée Globe aux Sables-d’Olonne. Full test in Multihulls World 190: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/catamaran/outremer-52-the-quintessential-offshore-catamaran For their new 52, the shipyard was keen to work with naval architects VPLP, along with the big names in French design (Patrick Le Quément, Darnet Design, Saguez & Partners), and also with the expertise of the Gunboat shipyard (also a member of the Grand Large Yachting Group), making it possible to reduce the weight of the structure while retaining its ultimate strength. This has allowed for increased glass surfaces and openings in the catamaran. With the aim of easier control of the Outremer 52, sail handling and trimming maneuvers are led back to the cockpit. Like the Outremer 55, the wheel, positioned on the starboard side, guarantees perfect control of the multihull with exceptional visibility of the sailplan. It can also be placed in a low position in the cockpit to ensure protection from the sun or from bad weather - the helmsman is then sheltered by the rigid bimini. The two tillers remain a feature at the after end of the hulls. Inside, there’s to be a neat forward-facing bench seat, four openings at the front of the saloon and an XXL-sized bay window that opens onto the cockpit. The Outremer 52 is available in three finishes - Life, Nomad and Sportline. The builder will also have their 45 and their 55 on show.
