El mรกstil, que estรก compuesto de simple aluminio, sufre unas cargas terribles por la presiรณn que ejerce el viento en las velas. Esto aumenta cuando viene una racha de viento o al virar el barco. Date cuenta que si se suelta un obenque o un estay, la rotura del mรกstil y desarboladura del mismo es inminente.
