For centuries sailors have navigated their way across the oceans by celestial navigation or nautical astronomy - using a sextant with the sun, moon, planets, and stars. For the modern sailor, it is essential when crossing oceans as back up to the modern and much relied upon electronic navigation. If you are curious about how to use a sextant or have taken the RYA Yachtmaster or Ocean Theory courses, or are even self-taught, our celestial sailing weekends are ideal offering both an introduction and a refresher. All are welcome. A big advantage is that you learn in a small group, under the supervision of an expert instructor. The weekends involve sailing along the south side of the Isle of Wight and back up through the Needles. A beautiful area to sail whilst offering ample opportunity to practice using the sextant. ---------- *Cruising the Forgotten Islands in Indonesia onboard a traditional Phinisi yacht* Embark on a journey to the Forgotten Islands of Indonesia, a hidden gem in the heart of the Banda Sea. Explore spectacular reefs and islands of a remote paradise, and dive with hammerhead sharks, sea snakes and more. Indonesia’s “Forgotten Islands” – also known as the Southeast Moluccas are not a single charter destination, but rather a 1,000 km long chain of archipelagos stretching from Timor to West Papua on the island of New Guinea. The remote islands of the ‘Ring of Fire’ have escaped much of the development of the modern world and remain pristine outposts of Indonesia’s extraordinary marine environment, offering untouched reefs, abundant marine life and bigger fish species including sharks. A yacht charter through the Banda Sea usually starts in Ambon where you warm up with some muck diving in Ambon Bay or on the reefs along the south coast, before sailing towards Nusa Laut. This small island is home to one of the Banda Sea’s most reliable hammerhead sites at Ameth and is a must on any trip to the region. Apart from the pristine diving possibilities, the Banda Island have a rich history. Being a crucial part of the Spice Trade, the island still feature a lot of colonial buildings, museums and other sites that are worth exploring during your yacht charter. ⛵Yacht: Lambo — 2 Cabins | 24 Meter ---------- 🗺️ Destination: The Forgotten Islands, Indonesia ---------- 🏝️ Land highlights: Local villages, museums, cultural sites ---------- 🐟 Sea highlights: Muck diving, hammerhead sharks, healthy corals, reef fish ---------- 👣 Type: Adventure & Exploration ---------- *Visit for more Information* ---------- 🌐 https://www.barefoot-cruising-indonesia.com ➜ https://www.barefoot-cruising-indonesia.com/boats/lambo/ ➜ https://www.barefoot-cruising-indonesia.com/destination/spice-cruise-moluccas/ ---------- #cruise #indonesia #yacht #diving #snorkeling #spiceislands #holiday #adventure
