The first test of our Dyneema loops that replace metal chainplates as part of our full Dyneema Standing rigging project within the full refit of our 1977 Rival 38. We are refitting our Rival 38 for a Sustainable Sailing retirement in a few years. Two years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings. We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all electric (motor, cooking etc). Now that the inside is dry (thanks to new windows, new hatches and leak chasing) we are fitting her out for live-aboard world cruising. That includes no fossil fuels, updating the rig and deck plus much more. Cool Timelapse the morning to mid-afternoon of July 5th, 2021 in SW Florida. Elsa is just south of Havana Cuba as I recorded this. This is actually a fairly small hurricane only about 150-160 miles wide so the outer edge of the storm is still a bit over 120 miles from us. It has been cool watching the clouds roll through, in, and build through the day.
