We are very excited to reveal our big project. San Diego’s first fully electric charter sailboat! ⛵️🔋 In this most recent refit of our Catalina 400, Bree Zen, we replaced the old Westerbeke diesel engine with a state-of-the-art electric motor. By replacing a diesel engine with an electric one, motoring in and out of the harbor is now a completely smooth and silent process. With no exhaust or diesel fumes, and no pollutants going into the water. 🌊 To support our new electric motor, we’ve integrated four 48-volt lithium batteries from Dakota Lithium. Thanks to Dakota Lithium and Electric Yachts - they’ve helped us take our sailing experiences to a whole new level! ⚡️⚡️ Our transition from diesel to electric power is part of our ongoing efforts to explore new innovations and products, and offer even more eco-friendly sailing experiences. Un de los retos más importantes (y difíciles) de la campaña "Velero Diosa Maat en Acción", era el cruce del mar de Alborán. Desde Almería, casi 100 millas de mar, mar, mar nos separaban de nuestro destino: Melilla. ¡Última parada de "El velero Diosa Maat en Acción"! En Melilla nos espera "Ecologistas en Acción-Guelaya", la federación de Ecologistas en Acción de la Ciudad. Como curiosidad nos dicen que Guelaya es una zona geográfica que abarca más que la ciudad de Melilla y se adentra en Marruecos. Y coincidimos con ellos: el ecologismo no entiende de fronteras. Durante la travesía nos organizamos en turnos de dos personas cada dos horas, para asegurar que siempre hubiese alguien en cubierta mirando al horizonte y vigilando cualquier novedad en la mar (como barcos grandes que se comen el velero).

There were plenty of boats on the star line for the SLYC Two day event, Dark and Scary got slightly to windward of GTR shortly after the start but was slowly burnt off by the superior hight of the J109 GTR. The team at bottom up boats hope you are enjoying some of the best bits from the the 2024 sailing season.
