Our #sailing adventure in #newyork was a unique and challenging experience. Aside from being a bustling #harbour with much marine traffic, the harbour is affected by tidal currents—two floods and two ebbs every day. Learning the current patterns to plan your sail into the harbour is essential, especially if you want to sail up the East River and into the Long Island Sound. We waited an extra day at Staniel Cay waiting on better wind to make our Way to Bell Island. We explored Bell Island earlier in the season with our son and love it. The Seaquarium is a must-do. It's best to do at Slack Tide...and we failed adhere to that advice...or rather we had thought that it was going to be slack but the current had turned around.
