Don’t let their cute eyes fool you! The peacock mantis #shrimp has one of the most powerful punches in the animal kingdom. Its club-like appendages can strike with the speed of a bullet, reaching up to 23 metres per second (about 50 miles per hour). This punch is so forceful that it can break through the shells of #crabs, #clams, and even aquarium glass. What a treat for our passengers on board Poseidon this afternoon, who had a juvenile (3-4 years) Humpback whale come and join the fun at Helms Deep! The crew kept the passengers who were already in the water in a tight group as the extremely curious Humpback made around 20 passes in a 20 minute period. What an absolute treat for our passengers!
