Cyclone Vaianu is creeping closer and closer and we’re really seeing an increase in wind and rain now. We’re seeing 35-40 knots consistently with reports nearby of gusts up to 60 knots. Our ladder has been blown away but otherwise we are safely strapped down and the boat isn’t going anywhere. The leaking windows are not so fun but thankfully that’s a job on our to do list anyway so we’ll get to those soon! Now we’re in the final countdown to the strongest winds and by the morning we should get a little respite as the eye passes over us. We sail on the good ship Saracen, a Beneteau Oceanis 473 from 2006. Out journey started in Scotland in early 2023 and our ultimate goal is to sail around the globe …..slowly. We make these videos mostly for family and friends and to create a record of our adventures for ourselves so that we can look back at them later in life, were not in it to make money (way to hard).
