The 17-foot beach cat was designed for sailors who were exploring the Arctic, so it's built to withstand some heavy stuff. Its eye-catching feature is the tent that's on the trampoline up forward. You can be underway with this fully deployed with your crew tucked away and snoozing, or you can lower it or even remove it and camp on the beach next to the boat. A first for Minicat, this boat has a centerboard that draws about 2 feet and helps with upwind performance. It also has a square top mainsail with two reefs, a roller furling jib, and an option for a Code Zero. Best of all, it breaks down and packs into three six-foot-long bags that can be checked as airport luggage, so you could conceivably fly this boat to whatever destination you like and go sailing for as long as you like.
