Having my brother and his fiancée onboard made all the difference - space to adapt, learn, and ease into this new reality. It was a week of small adventures, quiet moments, and figuring things out one day at a time. Nothing dramatic. Just real life settling in. When you pull into a dock, the fenders gotta come out to protect that shiny hull! 🪢Clove Hitch A very common way to quickly secure fenders to safety lines, or stanchions. 🪢Slipped Clove Hitch Tied the same was as the clove hitch but pulling a loop through at the end This allows you to undo the hitch quicker. We personally don’t use either of the above because we find they can work their way undone if the fenders shift about. We’ve been side-tied when the winds were howling and wanted to ensure those fenders stayed put during aggressive pushes into the dock and came up with our own: 🪢Jibsea Constrictor Sort of just came up with this one as we wanted one that would tighten up on itself. Avant même de poser le pied à terre, il y a quelques étapes importantes à connaître ⬇️ En arrivant au port, il faut d’abord bien s’annoncer auprès des autorités pour obtenir l’autorisation d’entrer. Ensuite, la douane, la police et la gendarmerie montent à bord pour effectuer une fouille du bateau, aussi bien à l’entrée qu’à la sortie du port. Une fois le contrôle terminé, le reste des formalités se passe au poste de douane ou à la capitainerie avant de pouvoir officiellement descendre à terre. Il faut aussi bien se renseigner sur les objets interdits ou réglementés sur le territoire, comme les drones par exemple. Si tu en as un à bord, il faut absolument le déclarer. Le plus simple reste même de le renvoyer en France avant d’arriver pour éviter les problèmes. Petit conseil aussi : gardez toujours vos passeports sur vous lorsque vous vous baladez en ville, ils peuvent être demandés lors de certains contrôles. Et côté nourriture, mieux vaut faire attention à ce qu’on mange et bien se renseigner auprès des restaurateurs, surtout au début, pour éviter les mauvaises surprises. Mais une fois toutes les formalités passées… quel accueil ! Même dans un petit port de pêche, on n’avait jamais été accueillis aussi chaleureusement.
