Join us on a 6-day sailing passage from Thursday Island, Australia to Tual, Indonesia aboard our Jeanneau 45 sailboat! 🌊⛵ It was an unforgettable offshore journey filled with epic ocean moments and serious mechanical challenges. We were visited by dolphins riding our bow, caught nothing but sharks, and watched breathtaking sunsets—but things took a turn when our gearbox failed mid-passage. With no propulsion, we hipped up the dinghy and towed our sailboat to anchorage. Real sailing, raw and unfiltered. Whether you're dreaming of sailing to Indonesia, want to know how to handle a broken gearbox at sea, or love wildlife and sailing adventure content, this short captures it all. 📍 Route: Thursday Island, Australia → Tual, Indonesia 🎣 Wildlife spotted: Dolphins, sharks, flying fish ⚙️ Issue: Gearbox failure mid-ocean 🛶 Solution: Hipped up the dinghy to tow to anchorage Subscribe for more real-life sailing experiences, DIY boat fixes, and life at sea with @SeafolkSailing #sailing #sailinglife #sailingaustralia #offshoresailing #oceanlife #liveaboardlife

A strong start today for the 49er teams at the Olympic qualifier in Lanzarote. Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove Team Dickson Waddilove 49er Ireland topped the Day 1 leader-board with Ryan Seaton and Séafra Guilfoyle Out2Win Ryan & Séafra placing an 11-8-8 for the day. Conditions off Playa Blanca in the straits between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura were very unpredictable in the fresh trade-wind conditions with added ocean swell. “It was very tricky with the wind coming off the mountains so a ‘head out of the boat’ day but all-in-all, a great start to the regatta,” commented James O’Callaghan, Irish Sailing’s Performance Director. “There’s a long way to go in this regatta but we couldn’t have asked for a better start.” We'll be posting updates here daily.
