Sailing tip: Before you roll up and store your sails, make sure they are completely dry! Leaving damp sails tightly rolled up-especially in humid summer weather-creates a breeding ground for mold and mildew. #sailing #sailboat #sailingschool #sailinglife #sailinggear

Boating Tip: You won't need to use reverse very often, but when you do, be careful! Some boats have a built-in safety device to keep the engine down, but if yours doesn't, shifting into reverse can cause the engine to rip right up out of the water. #sailing #boat #boatingsaftey

High vs. Low Aspect Ratio of a Sailboat Keel High Aspect Ratio: Tall and narrow (deep fin keels on modern racing boats). They create less induced drag and point higher into the wind efficiently, but require more draft and exert higher leverage loads on the hull. Low Aspect Ratio: Short and long (full keels on traditional cruising boats). They offer great directional stability and shallow draft options, but produce more drag and slip more sideways (leeway) under sail.  #sailing #sailingschool #sailboat #sailor
