You cannot sail a boat directly into the wind. The closest you can sail to the wind is roughly 45 degrees (depending on the boat) either side of the wind. If you want to go somewhere that is upwind you have to tack your way to your destination. Tacking is where you put the bow of the boat through the wind and the sails change sides. You end up sailing a zig zag course to get to where you want to go. ** About the RYA Competent Crew course in Southampton ** The RYA Competent Crew course is the perfect introduction for beginners who want to get into sailing and is specifically designed for those with little to no sailing experience. La météo annonce le vent réel, mais en bateau, ce n’est presque jamais celui que tu ressens réellement… Quand ton bateau avance, sa vitesse et son cap modifient le vent ressenti à bord : c’est ce qu’on appelle le vent apparent. Et c’est généralement lui que tes instruments affichent. 👉 Au près, le vent apparent augmente. 👉 Au portant, il diminue. Résultat : un même vent réel de 20 nœuds peut donner une vitesse et un comportement du bateau complètement différents selon ton allure. ⚡ C’est pour ça que regarder simplement “le nombre de nœuds” sur une météo ne suffit pas pour prévoir une navigation. Pour vraiment comprendre ce qui t’attend en mer, il faut aussi prendre en compte : • la vitesse du bateau • ton cap • et ton allure Comprendre le vent apparent, ça change complètement la manière d’anticiper ses navigations. ⛵ ⚠️ L’idée ici est de vulgariser les termes techniques de voile et d’aller au plus simple.
