Competent Crew Course details: ➜ https://www.firstclasssailing.com/rya-courses/competent-crew In this video shot on the Solent, we look at gybing in a little more detail. First thing we do before gybing is to centre the main. In the clip recorded during a Competent Crew course sailing out of Southampton, you see us on port tack; and we'll gybe onto starboard tack. As the stern goes through the wind, the wind gets behind the sails, and the headsail will start to come over, and the main will come across. We don't need to do anything with the main sheet at this point, but we do need to ease the headsail sheet on starboard, and take up the sheet on port. And then at this point we will ease the main sheet to let the main out. You can watch the first gybing tutorial video here: ➜ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6r2qLC51s0 ** About the RYA Competent Crew course in Southampton ** The RYA Competent Crew course is the perfect introduction for beginners who want to get into sailing and is specifically designed for those with little to no sailing experience. http://features.boats.com/boat-content/2013/02/torqeedo-deep-blue-makes-award-winning-debut-in-miami/ Torqeedo leaves the 2013 Miami boat show with a NMMA Innovation Award for its Deep Blue electric outboard, which made its North American debut at the event. Deep Blue is a huge leap for the German manufacturer, which has quietly (in every way) been gaining a following in the United States with a line of kicker-size electric propulsion motors up to 4kW (matching the thrust of a 9.9-hp gasoline outboard) that are attractive for use on restricted lakes and for light-duty auxiliary power. The new 60kW (80-hp) Deep Blue is aimed at the commercial market, but the firm is also working with several pleasure-boat builders. The company had the motor rigged on a flats boat and a Zodiac inflatable at Miami.
Gineico Marine demonstrates the quick response of the Quick Gyro Stabiliser when switched 'on'! Reducing boat roll up to 95%, the vertically spinning gyros are effective at full speed as well as at anchor. While our team are putting all their effort into producing roll when the Quick Gyro was on, their efforts amounted to very little. The Quick Gyro is the smallest, simplest gyro on the market. With 17 different models to choose from, our wide range covers applications from the smallest 20ft day cruiser or centre console through to superyachts. We have the right Gyro for your vessel. For a pleasant day out, don't go boating without one! ⚓ Visit our website for more information and an online quote - https://www.gineicomarine.com.au/quic... , or 🌊 Book a Sea Trial to check out what all the excitement is about: https://www.gineicomarine.com.au/book...
