As a sailor, I could Sail Greece forever. Today let's explore my favourite place: Symi Island is part of the Dodecanese Islands, just north of Rhodes. The island is known for its stunning architecture, Surrounded by colourful neoclassical houses. On the southwest coast, the 18th-century Monastery of Archangel Michael Panormitis is a significant Greek Orthodox pilgrimage site with a Byzantine museum: clear waters, and incredible beaches. The main port of Symi is a popular destination for sailors. The harbour is well-protected, and there are plenty of docking options available. Plenty of local tavernas serve fresh seafood and traditional Greek cuisine. Symi Island is also known for its incredible hiking trails, where you can explore its rugged landscape and stunning views. And for history buffs, Symi Island is home to the Panormitis Monastery, a stunning Byzantine monument still in use today. We sail on the good ship Saracen, a Beneteau Oceanis 473 from 2006. Out journey started in Scotland in early 2023 and our ultimate goal is to sail around the globe …..slowly. We make these videos mostly for family and friends and to create a record of our adventures for ourselves so that we can look back at them later in life, were not in it to make money (way to hard).
