The J/70 Worlds has a new champion! Yonder (USA), the team from Newport, Rhode Island, powered by North Sails and skippered by Douglas Newhouse with Jeremy Wilmot on tactics, led from Day 1 and never looked back, clinching the world title after five phenomenal days on the Bay of Palma. The team praised their North Sails setup for providing the perfect balance of speed. "Once we switched to North, we had it all," Newhouse shared. Yonder also sported #NorthSailsPerformanceClothing, ensuring they performed their best on the water. In addition, Brutus II (GBR), skippered by Charles Thompson with North expert Ben Saxton onboard, secured 3rd place overall, finishing strong with a win in the final race. Tim Ryan’s Vamos (AUS) topped the One Pro division, while Alec Cutler’s Hedgehog (BER) and Sofia Giondi’s Wanderlust (ITA) earned podium finishes in the Corinthian fleet. With North-powered boats excelling across divisions, it’s safe to say that this regatta will go down as another incredible chapter in the #NSVictoryList. There’s an undeniable, almost primal pull we feel toward the ocean. It's a need that's been studied and given a name: *Blue Mind,* a term coined by marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols to describe the meditative, calming state we enter when near water. The vastness of the sea provides a powerful escape from the clutter of daily life, offering a sense of perspective that can make our own problems feel smaller. Beyond the mental relief, there are tangible physical benefits. The rhythmic sound of waves and the fresh, salty air—which contains a higher concentration of **negative ions**—can lower stress hormones, improve mood by boosting serotonin levels, and even promote better sleep. This is why a simple walk on the beach or a few minutes spent watching the tide ebb and flow can feel so restorative. Our connection to the ocean is also deeply rooted in our need for activity and inspiration. It provides a natural playground for everything from swimming and sailing to quiet reflection and artistic expression. Ultimately, the ocean gives us a chance to disconnect from the modern world and reconnect with a fundamental part of ourselves—a need for tranquility, wonder, and the powerful embrace of nature.
