Due to a hectic week of sailing our boat to her berth, moving in and overwhelmed by fatigue, I made a preview for this week of vlog 11. Next week the full episode will be online! Short intro: After years of grief for my husband I've decided to change our home for a sailboat with ZERO experience...I'm just following my heart. I stay with my girls in The Netherlands where we at first will live on the boat untill my youngest will fly out..Then I will set sail to the world. Doing a rig check before offshore sailing? Here’s how we inspect our rigging before every passage. From the top of the mast, we check for cracked fittings, loose pins, corrosion, and halyard chafe — the small things that can turn into big problems at sea. We use a climbing harness (or a bosun’s chair works too), a figure 8 knot for extra security, and always a backup halyard. Clear communication and double-checking gear are key when one of you is literally hoisting the other up the mast.
