The 2024 season got off to a great start with the annual Strangford Lough Spring Series hosted by the Quoile Yacht Club. With the switch to the new YTC Handicap there was a good fleet of boats push for the win in both the Spinnaker and non Spinnaker devisions. With the sun shinning and light and shifty breeze at the top end of the lough it was a tricky day for the team on GTR, who ended with a second and 4th to be second overall. It was great to be back on the water after another long winter, looking forward to many more days on the water as the season progresses. The team at Bottom up Boats is more motivated than ever to bring you as much racing content as possible. Sailing Rules of the Road When Sailboat Meets Sailboat There are only three basic possibilities, and three basic boating rules of the road to follow, when your sailboat approaches another sailboat. Rule 1: When you are on the same tack as the other boat, the leeward boat has the right-of-way. Rule 2: When you are on opposite tacks, the starboard tack boat has the right-of-way. Rule 3: If you are overtaking the other boat, or it is overtaking you, the boat ahead (the overtaken boat) has the right-of-way.
