Join us April 5, 2025 | 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM for our annual Marine Thrift Swap Meet! The Marine Thrift Swap Meet, organized by Northwest Maritime, happens each April in the gravel lot immediately adjacent to Marine Thrift in Port Townsend’s Boat Haven. Bring your cash and stock up on used and useful tools, hardware, supplies, and more. Clean out your shop, empty your garage and turn your old stuff into cash. It’s free to sell. Note that at the end of the day, you can donate your unsold items to Marine Thrift and get a tax-deductible receipt!

Make this shorter : I’m back in the U.S., but my heart still feels torn between two places. Leaving family in Manila was hard, and now that I’m finally home, my husband has to go straight back to work. We barely have time together, and just like that, I’m left alone again. It never gets easier, but love, no matter the distance or time apart, always brings me back to the people who matter most. #furmom #cavalierkingcharlesspaniel #cutedogs #dogs #dogstagram #furbaby #fyp #viral #viralreels #viralvideos

Color changing is common in marine organisms, but tanning is extremely rare. Scientists from the University of Hawai'i discovered that the juvenile scalloped hammerhead sharks in Kaneohe Bay were tanning in the shallow, clear reef waters! (Lowe & Lowe, 1996). This is the first observation of sun-tanning in marine organisms! #sharks #shark #waterlust #marinebiology #marinelife #memes #meme

Some of you might know that I bought a boat a few months ago. She’s a beautiful old timber fishing boat originally from Melbourne, build in 1979. I’ve started turning her into my dream home, the perfect little cosy liveaboard. It has been the most amazing adventure so far and I decided to share it online for anyone who is interested ⛵️ It’s been a challenging few months so far. Full of ups and downs, set backs and new jobs that weren’t even planned. But it has also been super rewarding to figure it all out on my own (and the help of some friends). I have no background in building or carpentry or no knowledge at all about electrical work and boats in general. So I have been learning so much and I can’t wait to set sail :) #sailingstormy
