The HARDIN 44 Voyager, a classic sailing yacht from 1978, is a seaworthy vessel fully equipped for extended voyages. This well-maintained boat is ready to set sail with a range of features that combine performance and comfort. Engine: Powered by a robust "Yanmar" 75ps TD engine with 1,400 hours, the yacht boasts an excellent mechanical condition. The engine underwent a new installation in 2011 and has undergone meticulous annual inspections. The starter battery was replaced in November 2021, ensuring reliable starts. Sails: The yacht features high-quality "Doyle" sails, including a mainsail with lazy jacks (2012), a mizzen (2014), a self-tacking jib (2014), and a yankee on a furler (2014). Additionally, there are extra sails for different conditions, including a storm jib and a light wind sail for the jib stay. "Sunbrella" sail covers protect the sails when not in use. Anchoring and Windlass: The anchoring system includes a "Manson Supreme" anchor (65lbs, 2012) and a "CQR" anchor (45lbs). The yacht is equipped with a powerful "Lofrans" windlass (1500W, 2011) for convenient and efficient anchor handling. Navigation and Electronics: For navigation, the yacht is equipped with a "Furuno" autopilot, a "Lowrance" GPS plotter/fish finder (2015), and a "B&G" wind speed/direction indicator. Communication is facilitated by two VHF radios, one of which includes a GPS and AIS receiver (2015). Electrical System: The yacht is powered by four Trojan 105 batteries (450 Ah, October 2019) and supplemented by four solar panels providing approximately 360 W of power. An "AiLi" battery monitor (2021) ensures efficient management of the electrical system. Tanks and Utilities: With two 100-gallon diesel tanks and two 100-gallon fiberglass water tanks, the yacht has ample fuel and water storage for extended journeys. A Force 10 water heater is installed, although it has not been connected to the engine. A water purification filter with an extra faucet ensures a clean water supply. Additional Features: Davits for convenient dinghy storage Refrigerator installed in 2017 Three-burner stove with oven for onboard cooking Utility box (2016) for storage of LPG tanks, ropes, and other essentials Refurbishment: The deck has undergone refurbishment, including the removal of balusters and toe rail to address leaking issues. ► Mais Uma : A 6-year circumnavigation on an Outremer 45 ► We met the Norwegian crew of Mais Uma on their arrival back in La Grande-Motte. 6 years earlier, they had set out from this very pontoon for a trip around the world. Their new-generation Outremer 45 is the first to have completed a circumnavigation. ► Who: Anita and Knut ► Where: around the world ► Multihull: Outremer 45 (new generation) ► “At first, we were probably more interested in a monohull centerboarder, but then a German dealer introduced us to the Outremer 5X. This catamaran was too big for us and wasn’t in our budget, but we really liked it. So we came here, to La Grande-Motte, and the International Multihull Show. And that’s where it all began. We signed for Outremer 45 hull #10 in December 2014. We were looking for performance, not just a liveaboard platform. The catamaran was delivered in October 2015. The only modifications we asked for were extended sugarscoops (these have since been offered as a production option) and a greater surface area of solar panels. We named our catamaran Mais Una, which means “one more” in Portuguese – and we could be talking about the hull too! We spent two years aboard, getting our bearings, before leaving from La Grande-Motte on October 2, 2017.” Anita is officially the Captain: she speaks more languages, and is more diplomatic... And ultimately, a female skipper is better received, the couple remarked. A few crew joined them for the initial passages (to the Canaries and Cape Verde), but they soon found they preferred to sail alone. “In the end, it's easier to manage everything when there are two people on board for long crossings. We set all the alarms, sleep in the saloon with the door open, and set an alarm every hour. We met a lot of crews who were content to stop in the West Indies or, further afield, French Polynesia or New Caledonia, but we on kept going! Our best-of? The passage from Curaçao to Colombia, under spinnaker and flat seas, is our best sailing memory. Top speed? 25 knots in the surf! We also recorded a 270-mile day. Our favorite anchorage was Maupiti, in French Polynesia: the place is awesome, the locals are adorable and there's kitesurfing and fishing galore. In terms of stopovers, we loved Colombia, Fiji and Vanuatu. Our two favorite marinas were Auckland and Cape Town. To conclude, we'd like to emphasize the kindness of all the people we met - everywhere, the locals welcomed us and helped us. We've regained our faith in humanity! What are our plans?
