The insurance we went through probably 15 different insurance agencies looking for someone who would insure the crossing for the Atlantic, insure the boat while it was in Croatia. And being a U.S citizen with a U.S flag boat in a foreign country not a lot of people were interested. The tip that we actually got that worked out was from Nick for UNIQUA Insurance and they were super helpful. Easy, it just fell right into place. Veli Rat is a protected landscape area on the island of Dugi Otok, best known for its impressive lighthouse. Built in 1849, the lighthouse rises about 42 meters high and is considered the tallest on the Adriatic coast. Its distinctive yellow exterior is surrounded by a local legend claiming that thousands of egg yolks were used in the construction of the facade mixture. Within the lighthouse grounds you’ll also find a small chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas, which has become an increasingly popular spot for intimate and romantic weddings.
