In this #short video, I practice a new (for me) Solo Sailing Docking Technique. The dock line standing by is tied off to the winch. As I slowly motor my 32 foot sailboat into the slip, I loop the dock line around the dock cleat. Then wrap the line back around the winch and the forward momentum of the sailboat will pull you snuggly into the dock. EASY! The Elan 37 Hindsight made a good recovery after a slow start to chase down the J109 Going to Red a couple of minutes into the racing out of the Quoile Yacht Club. Hindsight gybe shortly after this to split the course with the rest of the fleet, this turned out be a smart move as they headed for the counter tide on the Portaferry shore of Strangford lough. They did not look great early as the rest of the fleet stayed high and in pressure, as the leg went on it became clear that they would lead at the Bottom Mark. Hindsight stretched out to a lead by over over two minutes, GTR fort hard on the next beat to chase the leader down, going on to win the race. The team at bottom up boats hope you are enjoying these short clips of racing action from the 2024 season.
