We want to share our GTFO plan of retiring early to explore the world on a Balance 482 catamaran. We plan to retire June 1, 2023, Dennis’s mandatory retirement date when he will have served 30 years in the Army. We currently own a 1984 Catalina 30’ monohull sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay. This is our practice boat and is not designed for the open ocean and too small for full-time, liveaboard life. We put non-refundable money to reserve our Balance 482 catamaran. We plan to name her GTFO...Get the F&*# Out! :) Learn with us as we prepare to GTFO and sail the world! Kisses, Ann & Dennis
I'd like to say thank you to those who have come along for this wild ride, we're a small channel and appreciate the support. We (Kayleigh & James) recently spent 6 days at The Boat Works and we have almost got the boat ready to move aboard and set sail in April. One of the positives of hauling out in Trinidad is that you're relatively safe from hurricanes because it's rare for one to come far enough south to directly hit the island. That being said, we do still experience storms that are a result of weather conditions far north of us. Last night we experienced one of the worst storms we've had since arriving which was directly related to Tropical Storm Philippe which has just made landfall in Barbuda. Luckily the tent covering Liger held up well, in part because it was built with storms like this in mind.
