Over a year after we first arrived in Trinidad and our live aboard yacht was hauled out, we finally took to the sea again this week! Sadly it was not in our Leopard 45 (it's still undergoing warranty), but instead in a converted Privilege catamaran owned by a Trinidadian family we'd met around the shipyard. J109 Going to Red was locked in close combat with the several of the IRC 1 fleet in the first of the Tobermory of WYHW 2023. The wind was ranging between 10 and 15 knots on the first beat with J109 Going to Red crossing just behind the Maxi 1300 "Maximoose Too" GBR9333C early on the first best. Maximoose Too lead from start to finish in this race with Going to read coming in 6th place. The bottom up boats team had a great time at WHYW, the weather was not great but the sailing and the social life more than made up for the damp conditions. The Mills 36 Custom - Prime Suspect - IRL 5991 beating to windward on the way to the finish line in the Harbour Race of Volvo Cork Week 2024. The Team on J109 Going to Red were a little surprised to be so close to this downwind flier towards the back end of the Harbour race. They look like they needed some more bodies on the rail and a bit more mast bend to flatten out the main.
