Oggi giornata turistica! Dopo una mattina di pulizie sentiamo Paolo e ci organizziamo per vederci nella parte coloniale, di fronte alla cattedrale. Così facciamo, chiamiamo il nostro caro Taxista Aurelio e viaggiamo veloci verso la capitale. Abbiamo scoperto che la Repubblica Dominicana conta 12 milioni di abitanti di cui un terzo solo in Santo Domingo. Facendo un breve paragone, Milano ha 1,3 milioni di abitanti e Roma 2,8 milioni. Vi lascio immaginare il traffico… Comunque sia, arriviamo al nostro appuntamento in anticipo! Paolo è una persona che vive qui da 34 anni, una vita. Ci racconta come sia la vita qui, come sia stato arrivare in un periodo in cui era ancora tutto molto più indietro. Ha visto crescere la Repubblica Dominicana, diventando cavaliere del consiglio generale degli italiani all’estero e assistendo ad una crescita continua di italiani insediati qui. Andiamo a pranzo da Leonardo, ristoratore pugliese con locale sulla marina. Un pranzo che chiudendo gli occhi ci fa sentire a casa: taglieri di affettati, formaggi e vino rosso tutti di firma italiana. Si unisce con noi a pranzo Alberto, anche lui ristoratore di santo Domingo, che da 27 anni vive qui. Ha aperto un’enoteca/ristorante con 450 vini italiani a menù. 10 Fascinating Facts About the Superyacht "AZZAM" 1. Originally Not Intended to Be the Largest Yacht. Azzam wasn't initially designed to be the world's biggest yacht. The goal was to create a high-speed vessel that could accommodate a specific interior layout and guest capacity. The original concept was for a 145-meter yacht, but as the design evolved to incorporate complex engine systems, space for fuel, and tenders, along with a sleek, elongated exterior, the yacht extended to 180 meters, ultimately breaking records. 2. Over 4,000 Workers Were Involved in Her Construction. Built at the renowned Lürssen shipyard in Germany, Azzam took four years and the efforts of over 4,000 workers to complete. With a total cost exceeding $500 million, construction involved an astounding six million man-hours. To put that into perspective, if one person had been tasked with the build, they would have had to start in 1737 BC to finish on time. 3. Azzam Is Among the Fastest Superyachts on the Planet. Azzam was built to travel swiftly between her owner's private island off the coast of Abu Dhabi and the mainland. Her top speed of 33 knots allows her to make the journey in just a few hours. 4. Comparable to a Navy Frigate in Speed and Technology Powered by two gas turbines and two MTU diesel engines driving four waterjets (two axial flow Modular jets and two boosters), Azzam produces an impressive 97,000 horsepower. The Chandelier Remains Steady Even at Full Speed. One of the design challenges was ensuring minimal vibration and noise, even when Azzam is moving at full throttle. Engineers and designers worked meticulously to guarantee that the chandelier in the main saloon wouldn't rattle during high-speed travel. Sophisticated software and extensive testing ensured that this impressive feat was achieved.
