I get asked this question all the time. What does it mean when a boat is being advertised as, "Not for Sale to US Citizens while in US Waters?" It simply means that the boat has not been imported into the United States. There are three things that can happen to make it legally purchase a boat that is not US Duty Paid. 1) The seller can pay the duty and import it into the United States 2) The seller can move the boat into a Duty Free Zone, and the closing can occur there 3) The seller can move the vessel outside of the stream of commerce, and into a foreign country. Regular viewers will know one of the things we've always wanted to do is moor the boat in winter in a place where we could easily go skiing. We came very close during our winter in Venice with the snow capped Dolomite mountains always in view from our mooring. Sadly that year we were scuppered by Covid which kept the ski resorts in the Alps closed all winter. Well this year we've cracked it! Porto Montenegro is a 2 hour drive to Kolasin, a really nice little skiing town high in the picturesque mountains, what's even better is the marina has their own ski chalet which we can book free of charge!
