A serious offshore program requires more than a capable yacht. It also requires preparation. During our owner week, new Garcia owners work on offshore safety and survival to build the reflexes and understanding needed before departure. Because preparation matters as much as the boat itself. Which skill matters most before going offshore: safety, systems or navigation? #GarciaYachts #OffshoreSailing #ExpeditionYacht #BluewaterSailing #SailingSafety #MasterTheAdventure
Here at Bates Wharf, we pride ourselves on offering the complete service whether you are buying, selling or servicing your boat. As a family owned boat building business founded in the 1900′s, we have now evolved into one of the largest boat dealerships in the UK with offices in prime locations for your convenience. All of our staff have a wealth of boating experience whether it be personally or commercially, and as such we are able to offer a unique level of customer service based on experience and training. Our three offices are located in Chertsey (Surrey), Eastbourne (East Sussex) and Poole (Dorset). At each office we have a large range of new and used boats available for viewing, a comprehensive brokerage service, as well as a service, repair, and valeting centre. We are open seven days a week so there is always a member of staff available. We feel privileged to represent the brands we offer and look forward to beginning, or continuing with you along your boating journey.
We were sailing out liveaboard sailboat/raceboat up the coast, and almost home under the golden gate bridge. Just 15 miles form the gate, we noticed a problem: the engine temp alarm, and no input to the RPM gauge/tacometer. A telltale sign that the engine belt is broken! We rolled around with no wind and no engine, tools flying across the room, and no steerage. We were able to get a new belt on eventually, and most importantly, we got back to the dock just in time to get burritos at our favorite burrito place!
