Any #yacht featured in the superb pre-Second World War series of ‘Uffa Fox books’ is without question a special one, and DRIAC may be best known these days from her inclusion in Fox’s ‘Sailing, Seamanship and Yacht Construction’ (1934). From a time when the design of the ideal offshore #sailing #cruiser was still evolving and much discussed, Uffa waxed lyrical about this characterful Charles E. Nicholson design which had comfortably reeled off well over 5000 miles in her first two seasons, including Portsmouth to Malta and back, under the command of her redoubtable first owner, A.G.H. Macpherson. DRIAC is still taking people on sailing adventures and, as she has always done, entrances with her looks, presence, and no-nonsense sailing ability. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/608/DRIAC
A couple of weeks ago, I took a crew of six from Grenada to St Martin on a Passage Experience. Now that I'm in St Martin, it's time to start our Sailing Lifestyle Experiences. We teach people what the sailing cruising life is like - how to sail, what it's like to own and operate a bluewater cruiser, and what to expect when living the sailing dream. Come join me this season! Visit https://SailingBritican.com?utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_campaign=simplified&utm_content=simplified1c8ba for all the details. #sailingexperience #short
Sailing when the rest are motoring. Footage of blazing fast sailing may get the most attention, but how about zooming around in the light stuff! In this video we slow it down for a minute and honor the cruising lifestyle that dominates the majority of time spent on a Gunboat. Footage of Gunboat 6801 cruising in the south of France by Gilles Martin-Raget / Guilain Grenier. Performance engineering of a Gunboat catamaran maximizes speed, efficiency, seaworthiness, and comfortable sailing motion. Equivalent attention to the interior and ergonomics optimizes luxury and practicality. When cruising the world with family and friends requires performance sailing and unmatched style - www.gunboat.com
There’s a typhoon in the forecast—at least according to one of the weather models—and it could sweep right over Amami next week. So it’s prep time aboard Wahine. Today I’m taking down the jib sail, adding fenders, securing gear, and making sure both inside and out are storm-ready. It’s a strangely calm and beautiful morning. Perfect weather… for storm prep. ANd a pleasant break from writing. Living on a boat along in a Bay by a remote Japanese village means you don’t just watch the forecast, you respect it. Join me for a short glimpse into the practical side of slow living at sea: a mix of solitude, muscle memory, and quiet readiness. 🎥 Shot on location in Buren Village, Amami Oshima 🌸 Part of the Never Too Late Longevity Project 📚 From the author of A Journey Beyond the Blue Zone #TyphoonPrep #BoatLifeJapan #AmamiOshima #SailingJapan #RemoteIslandLife #NeverTooLate #PacificSolo #SoloSailing #StormReady #CalmBeforeTheStorm #JibSail #TyphoonSeason #JapanWeather #LifeAtSea #BlueZoneJapan #boatlife #japan #solosailor
