Gaetano è nato il 7 luglio 1968 a Cala Gonone sulla costa orientale della Sardegna dove ha sempre vissuto; qui il rapporto con la natura è la vita stessa, e al mare Gaetano ha consacrato la sua esistenza, nell'appassionato incontro tra lavoro, sogno e avventura.Dove è nato Gaetano non esistono circoli velici e manca una tradizione di vela. La sua carriera in mare incomincia presto quando si imbarca come mozzo sui pescherecci, poi come comandante sul trasporto passeggeri di piccolo cabotaggio. A vent'anni acquista il Dovesesto un fatiscente veliero d'epoca di 23 metri col quale, una volta restaurato, si guadagnerà da vivere (un'innovativa esperienza imprenditoriale) facendo charter e sarà la scuola della sua vita. Autodidatta per forza di cose ha imparato la vela da solo, trasformando la sua passione in impegno concreto attraverso studio e determinazione imparando a comprendere il vento onnipresente nella sua isola. Poi le regate lungo l' Oceano, una conquista dopo l'altra. La sua vocazione è la navigazione in solitario, quella che gli è più congeniale per la quale sente di avere una predisposizione fisica e mentale. La sua ultima impresa è la partecipazione alla Transat 2009. Nel 2011 ha progettato "gironelmondo" e dal 2012 inizia l'attività con BET 1128 Saling Team. Partecipando alla Palermo Montecarlo dove vince nella sua classe, poi la Middle Sea Race dove conquista il secondo posto. Nel 2013 trasloco in oceano per la partecipazione a Les Sables-Horta- Les Sables e alla Transat Jacques Vabre

Vela was out of the water at 10:45, we started removing the leaky thru hull at 11:48, and by 13:40, the new thru hull was in place. Now, we’ve been waiting approx for 3 hours for the epoxy to cure so we can apply a couple of layers of primer! And tomorrow some antifouling 🎨 SUPER EFFICIENT! What do you think? We’re glad we had done this 14 times before tackling this thru hull with limited time. We’re happy to offer tips and guidance if you need it! Two years on Hi. ⛵️ Two years that challenged us, stretched us, and opened us up in ways we didn’t expect. It’s been beautiful. And hard. And completely worth it. Some days felt like two weeks. Others like five years. We’ve had unforgettable highs – and some very real lows. One of the biggest lessons? This life triggers everything. Our perfectionism. Our need for control. Our idea of “how things should be.” And that doesn’t make it easier – but it makes it honest. It shows us who we really are. And what we’re ready to let go of. We’ve fixed things, broken things, tried things, and left things behind. We’ve learned.We’ve grown.And our love? It’s deeper than ever – even when it’s messy. Are we fully there yet? Maybe.
