In February 2019 we replaced our Jeanneau 379s Batida and Manhattan with two brand new Beneteau 381s. We have continued with the cocktail theme and named them Palomar and Sazerac. These new yachts are fractionally bigger in length than the Jeanneau 379’s. However the carry their chine almost all the way to the bow, consequently there is a noticeable amount of extra space both below and in the cockpit. The boats have two wheels, Raymarine Axiom Chart Plotter, Raymarine Quantum Radar, AIS and heating. In fact everything you would expect a modern yacht to have! Who’s that 1 charming fish you should never scare? Hint: He bears a strong resemblance to Stewie on Family Guy 😅 When scared the Porcupine Fish unhinges his jaw to gulp large amounts of water, quickly expanding his body into a round ball and extending spikes that cover his body. While this act does not kill the fish (a popular rumor which only occurs when near the surface, thus gulping air), it does stretch his skin/stomach and makes it very difficult to swim thus leaving him vulnerable for 5+ hours which is how long it takes him to deflate. The wooden frame to lift the engine with must be very stable. Test with your own body that it's completly stable in all directions. Used double lifting devices to make the engine to move sidewards. Used plywood and soft material to protect the opening of the entrance to the boat. Shifted to a support over the entrance to the boat to get the engine into the thunnel. It was surpricing easy to get the engine in the right position. Checked with feeler gaugh that it was perfect aligned with the straight axis. The engine supports are flat and the the adjustment plates are under the supports. Those had not been changed when the engine was lifted out of the boat. As the alignment was absolutely perfect, I do not expect to even have to check when the boat comes into water.
