Foi dada a largada para a 48ª Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela realizada entre os dias 24 e 31 de julho de 2021, no Yacht Club de Ilhabela (YCI), no litoral norte paulista. Neste domingo (25), aconteceram as primeiras regatas, Alcatrazes por Boroeste, Ilha de Toque-Toque e Renato Frankenthal. O grande encontro da modalidade conta 80 barcos das principais classes de vela oceânica, como ORC, RGS, Mini Transat, Multicasco, Bico de Proa, Clássicos, C30 e HPE25. E, pela primeira vez, reúne regatas presenciais e virtuais, com as provas online feitas pelo aplicativo Virtual Regatta Inshore. I’ve just left the remote island village of 29 people in southern Japan, where my boat is moored, and arrived in Tokyo for a conference on aging and gerontology with IAFOR ( The International Academic Forum) Before that, I’m walking across the city to meet my Tokyo “MOAI”—a small, regular community that stays connected both in person and digitally. It’s a reminder of something I’m seeing again and again across Japan’s longevity hotspots: Community isn’t one thing. It’s many. And perhaps that’s part of the art of living long and well.
