Mustamaija is sailing through the Mediterranean on her way to Gibraltar to begin a major season of ocean passages. She is a 19-metre steel staysail schooner, purpose-built for long-distance and high-latitude sailing, with a robust hull, long keel, and systems suited to extended offshore expeditions. This season she will head across the Atlantic, continue south towards Antarctica, and then carry on to the Falkland Islands.
