Day 3 at the North Sound @MaxiRegatta introduced something new: Triple Head Sunday, a time trial-style race where each team picked their perfect moment to send it down a 1.4-mile reaching course. With the pressure on to go as fast as possible, strategy and timing were everything. North Sails-powered Balthasar came out on top on corrected time. “That was a nice bonus,” said North Sails expert and project manager Bouwe Bekking. But beyond the result, it was the unique format and full-team effort that made the day memorable. “It was a big day for us,” said Bekking. “We had the owner's wives and friends onboard, which was really special. I’d say they were our lucky charm. We nailed the timing, had good pressure in the first run, and got our triple-head configuration dialed in.” Sailing at 20–22 knots with three headsails flying—a jib, genoa staysail, and a smaller sail on the bowsprit—Balthasar showed what the team (and the sails) could do when everything clicks. Triple Head Sunday delivered exactly what this week is all about: good breeze, clever racing formats, and a whole lot of fun—on and off the water. Depoimento de Harry Finger, secretário de esportes de Ilhabela, sobre a Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela 2021. A organização da Semana Internacional de Vela de Ilhabela, em parceria com a Prefeitura local, está alinhada com as autoridades de saúde para entregar um evento de alto nível de 24 a 31 de julho, no litoral norte paulista. As regatas devem reunir mais de 100 barcos de classes como ORC, RGS, Bico de Proa, Clássicos, C30 e HPE25. Para retomada das provas, os organizadores adotarão medidas restritivas e consultaram dirigentes de outras competições pelo mundo, não apenas de vela oceânica. A Prefeitura de Ilhabela segue como parceira histórica do evento, que é apontado pela comunidade como o principal da vela oceânica da América do Sul. A abertura do evento será com a regata Alcatrazes - Marinha do Brasil, acompanhada pela Toque-Toque por boreste e Renato Frankenthal. As disputas na água prometem muita emoção. E isso já está acontecendo nos eventos realizados nos últimos meses em todo País, principalmente em Ilhabela (SP), onde recentemente ocorreu a 1ª fase da Copa Mitsubishi. Antes da 48ª SIVI será realizada de 16 a 18 a Semana de Monotipos, que conta com barcos de classes olímpicas, pan-americana e da vela jovem.
