Step aboard the MJM 38RS—a premium luxury island cruiser designed for the Bahamas and Caribbean, blending refined comfort, serious performance, and the all-weather confidence MJM is known for. The 38RS delivers an elevated cruising experience with a protected, social pilothouse layout and the kind of ride quality that makes long island runs feel effortless. What makes the 38RS unique is that it’s the crossover version of the MJM 38 platform—built primarily for luxury day cruising and island hopping, while adding smart sportfishing versatility for owners who want to troll on the way over, fish in comfort, and still arrive at the dock looking polished for dinner. It’s the perfect match for boaters who love the lifestyle as much as the destination. From quick runs across the bank to relaxed afternoons anchored off a beach, the 38RS is made for real island life: secure deck access, confident handling, and a layout that keeps everyone connected—whether you’re underway, entertaining, or spending a weekend in the islands. David Walters Yachts is the MJM Yachts dealer for the Caribbean & Bahamas. If you’re considering a new MJM build, we can guide you through the process—spec’ing your 38RS for tropical cruising, electronics, comfort upgrades, and delivery planning. We had a break in the weather, so we decided to head off to Long Island. Although we had originally planned to head to the Ragged Islands, it's perhaps too early in the winter season to do so. The periodicity of the weather events down here is every week or so and the wind coming next Monday would have been a challenge in the Ragged Islands. There's so few anchorages with protection from winds out of the West. Winds were light and variable. We were mostly on a broad reach or run all day. We used every sail. Once we made the turn to starboard back to the Bahamas Bank, we dropped the main, the gennaker and got out the Oxley Levante Parasail. Love that sail. It's so fun to fly. So, we'll stay here for a bit and head back to George Town, Bahamas and wait out the next blow. Hopefully we can make it over to Dean's Blue Hole, but we'll have to rent a car for the day.
