barbotin: (s.m.) (Di coperta) chain lifter (of windlass) Ruota del verricello (o argano) dell'ancora, formata da un disco calettato all'interno con le impronte per la catena, che serve per ingranare le maglie della catena stessa. Quando l'argano gira le maglie vanno ad ingranarsi nel barbutin trasmettendo il moto e lo sforzo alla catena, nei due sensi. Deve essere "calibrato" cioè avere le impronte della stessa dimensione delle maglie. Il nome deriva dal suo inventore, il francese Barbotin e si pronuncia alla francese "barbotèn". barca a motore: (s.f.)
