Finding wood rot on your timber boat is never a good thing, and I have found out quite a big section of my deck is rotten, and by rotten i mean rotten badly, turning into mush, sloppy timber soup when you try to pull it up. It needs to go as soon as possible before it spread even more. I was a bit hesitant at the start, pulling up all of the deck, the area got bigger an bigger, but in the end it all needs replacing so give me the hammer and let tear it all up! On Sunday, 9 October 2016 racing was cancelled at Royals as gale force northerlies caused damage around Melbourne and the RYCV Marina. Winds of up to 46kts gusting to almost 60kts were recorded at Fawkner Beacon and peaked around 2.00pm, which resulted in several mooring lines letting go as yachts lurched around in the wind and up to one metre waves that lashed against the marina.
