It starts in Colombia before we set sail for the absolute spectacle of islands known as the San Blas Islands of Panama, then we make several stops along the Panama coast, including a stop at the Panama Canal and Panama City where we put our feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time! From there we take you on a ride to the remote islands of San Andres and Providencia in the middle of the Caribbean Sea which are owned by Colombia, before sailing through the pirate waters of Nicaragua to make landfall at another tiny island paradise north of Honduras! The phonetic alphabet is used to spell out parts of a message or call sign that are critical or otherwise hard to recognize during voice communication. The phonetic alphabet assigns code words to the letters of the English alphabet so that code words can be pronounced and understood by those who transmit and receive voice messages regardless of their native language. As a result, it is quite important for maritime communications that the phonetic alphabet be memorized. The phonetic alphabet is a part of ICS (International Code of Signals) and SMCP (Standard Marine Communication Phrases).
