Mark from Gineico here at the 2024 Maritimo Migration in Key West, chatting with Rob, who took delivery of his Maritimo M60 after the 2023 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. It's Rob's first time using a gyro stabilizer, and he's equipped his vessel with the Quick X30. Here's his feedback: First-Time Experience with a Gyro: Initially skeptical about stabilizers, Rob now appreciates the Quick X30's performance, especially for ocean boating. Transitioning from the Great Lakes, he noticed the gyro excels in smoothing sharp wave action and making rougher conditions more tolerable and enjoyable. Performance in Varying Conditions: Whether cruising the Bahamas or the U.S. East Coast, the Quick X30 shines when weather picks up, reducing wave impact and improving overall comfort. Serviceability: Rob is approaching the first annual service after a year of use. With 150-175 hours logged, he values the Quick X30's straightforward maintenance, involving lubrication and inspections, as recommended by friends. Space Efficiency: The compact footprint of the Quick X30 optimizes engine room layout, offering powerful stabilization without sacrificing space. For Rob and his wife, the Quick X30 has proven to be a worthwhile investment, enhancing comfort and reliability on their adventures. Contact the team at Gineico and they will advise what size gyro will best suit your boat. ? How to save someone that goes overboard and you've got both sails up? Without tacking or jibing, you go into a broad reach, bring the sails in tight, and heave-to. The sheets stay as they were. You're effectively putting the sails over to the wrong side of the boat. By doing this you put the boat in position for the casualty to drift towards the boat and you also stop forward motion. With the engine, you then go forward and backward lining up the casualty along the beam of the boat?waiting for the person to drift down. Have you ever done this kind of MOB procedure? It's not commonly taught in sailing schools. Follow us for more tips on becoming a confident sailing cruiser! #sailingexperience #sailingexperiences #learntosail
