A Justiça Federal do Rio de Janeiro condenou nesta quinta-feira (21/5) a Marinha brasileira por ataques à memória de João Cândido, conhecido como o "Almirante Negro" e líder da Revolta da Chibata, em 1910. A liderança de Cândido no motim que combateu as punições físicas como o uso de chibatas contra marinheiros — em sua maioria, negros — o fez se tornar um ícone das mobilizações antirracistas no Brasil após a abolição da escravidão.
