Secondo la tradizione, il santuario fu costruito su una roccia che, con la sua posizione privilegiata, offriva un rifugio spirituale a molti pellegrini nei secoli passati. La leggenda vuole che l’isola fosse anche un luogo di mistero, protetto dai fondali e dalle scogliere, dove solo pochi coraggiosi si avventuravano.
