Jimmy Spithill was onboard the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli AC40 and gave a terrific summary after sailing, commenting on the swell and sea-state, saying: “I think it's really just getting used to the conditions. I mean the thing I've noticed, and I haven't done a lot of time here, is just how affected it is by ocean swell and waves. I mean today is a classic example if you go quite a bit further north up the coast there’s a really big mistral blowing and Barcelona just sort of gets the remnants from either what's happening north or what's happening to the south, so you get a lot of cross axis waves, and it makes it really interesting. It seems like no day is the same every time you come out…and it changes quickly.” #AC37Recon #shorts SUBSCRIBE to the official America's Cup channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/americascup Like America’s Cup On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/americascup Stay up to date with the America’s Cup newsletter: https://www.americascup.com/en/newsletter The 37th America's Cup will be Defended in Barcelona by four-time America's Cup winner, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron represented by their team, Emirates Team New Zealand. #AmericasCup #AC37 #Barcelona2024
The 2023 season got off to the tradition start with the Quoile Yacht club host the spring series on the picturesque shores of strangford lough. With two J109 and two Impala 28's on the staring line in the ICR class there would a race within the race for all competitors. Going to Red got of to a great start with their Code Zero powering them off the start line, allowing them to stretch out a good lead by the time they had made it to mark 5. They did not look back, increasing they lead at every mark, sliding up the the first beat in the deepest part of the lough to get the most assistance from the tide before reaching under some of the competitors in the NHC class with their kite up before taking dropping the kit in front of Killyleagh Yacht Club and beating back up the Quoile River to the take the win both across the line and on corrected time. The racing was tight for the minor places was tight with both the Impala's getting the better of the Jammie Dogger, the other J109 in the fleet.
