Morning from Buren Bay! I just inflated my SUP (with mixed success), and I’m heading ashore for provisions thanks to Mitsu kindly lending me his car. A Canadian sailing couple has arrived nearby—always nice to see new faces out here. It’s a typical day of small adventures and daily logistics from life aboard Wahine. Whether it’s figuring out how to cap the SUP without losing half the air or rowing 400 meters to shore, life afloat keeps you humble. Thanks for following the journey—more updates from the Blue Zone coming soon! #BoatLife, #SailingJapan, #LiveAboard, #SUPFail, #NeverTooLate, #BlueZoneJourney, #MorningUpdate, #SoloSailor, #WahineSails, #InflatableSUP

Here are 3 reasons why we bought a steel boat; 1. They are strong! We want to travel anywhere including choppy seas and transatlantic crossings without worrying about the fragility of our boat. Steel sailboats have a more rigid structure and are robust so they can better withstand grazes, rubs, and bumps when in the open water. 2. They are stable! Though not as light and fast as fiberglass boats, the weight of steel boats make them more steady in choppy waters and that means reduce chances of seasickness. 3. We are going electric! Since we were buying a used boat, we needed to select a structure that could be alter in order install our electric motor and a steel structure is highly adaptable. Let us know what kind of boat you prefer! There is so much more to come so remember to subscribe to Lahakai! ➡️ WEEKLY VIDEOS EVERY SUNDAY AT 11AM WHO ARE WE? We are Luke, Lori and Leon :) We love the idea of freedom of the open sea, endless horizons, and your home whenever you wish to be. We also want to feel we are impacting the world in a positive way. So we are building the Lahakai – a 34' steel, environmentally friendly, sailboat that we will sail around the world! Or at least that is the goal and you can see our progress along the way. The dream is to do our small part and perhaps inspire others to do the same. A chance to participate in change instead of just talking about it. It was the first time diving skills didn't come easy to me. Looking back, I should've stopped after the sidemount course and gotten comfortable in the configuration by fun diving before moving on to the technical courses. My hope in sharing this is to help others feel empowered to slow down their training goals. I truly believe it will help you in the long run.
