► Since 1973, the La Rochelle Boat Show, known simply as “Le Grand Pavois” in French, has been THE not-to-be-missed afloat show on France’s Atlantic coast. With 750 boats on display and a record 80,000 visitors, the 2023 event (that ran from September 20 to 25, so a little earlier than usual) clearly benefited from the scheduled absence of the Paris Boat Show at the end of the year. According to the organizers, no more than 10 square feet was left available at the Port des Minimes! Of course, the Multihulls World team was there. I've started the 2nd prototype wheelhouse extension (and dismantled the first). We had proved the concept but wanted the central fixed part a little narrower. The goals are a full cockpit enclosure AND moving the mainsheet from the top of the aft cabin to above the wheelhouse (better safety and a better sheeting angle). We also refitted the timber trim on the port side complete with the front zip for the first removable window section. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP.
