A schooner is a type of sailing ship with two or more masts, where the front mast (foremast) is shorter than or equal to the rear mast (mainmast). A Schooner has fore-and-aft sails that move parallel to the hull. #ship #sailing #sailboat #sailor #sailinglife

High vs. Low Aspect Ratio of a Sailboat Keel High Aspect Ratio: Tall and narrow (deep fin keels on modern racing boats). They create less induced drag and point higher into the wind efficiently, but require more draft and exert higher leverage loads on the hull. Low Aspect Ratio: Short and long (full keels on traditional cruising boats). They offer great directional stability and shallow draft options, but produce more drag and slip more sideways (leeway) under sail.  #sailing #sailingschool #sailboat #sailor
