First Class Sailing has a fleet of yachts that sail all year round. Running Royal Yachting Association practical courses on the Solent. Depending on weather, time, tide, and the course syllabus, we try to visit Newtown Creek, on the Isle of Wight. At the mouth of the Newtown River is the beautiful Newtown Creek. A large natural harbour and nature reserve. This secluded and peaceful anchorage is always a treat for our students. Bustling with wildlife there are opportunities to see birds, waders and waterfowl. If you step ashore you might even spot one of the elusive red squirrels. In this video you can see two of our fleet. Sazarac is a Beneteau Oceanis 38.1 and Fusion III is a Beneteau Oceanis 41.1. Both are extremely comfortable yachts and ideal sail-training vessels. Whether you are a newbie to sailing or are seeking advanced skills and qualifications, we have the course for you. From Competent Crew and Day Skipper to Yachtmaster we have expert instructors to ensure you learn at your pace whilst reaching the skills required of the course. To find out more head to our website or follow us on our social channels. Please do call or email if you have any questions. GTFO plan - Our 1984 Catalina 30' under sail There is no better feeling than flying with the wind on a sailboat! This is a short clip from our current "practice" boat. We currently own a 1984 Catalina 30’ monohull sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay. This is our practice boat and is not designed for the open ocean and too small for full-time, liveaboard life. Our future boat will be a Neel 51' trimaran! We want to share our GTFO plan of retiring early to explore the world. We plan to retire June 1, 2023, Dennis’s mandatory retirement date when he will have served 30 years in the Army. We plan to buy a Neel 51’ trimaran (http://www.neel-trimarans.com/modele_bateau/neel-51/). A trimaran is much safer than a catamaran, more comfortable than a monohull, faster to escape bad weather, and spacious to accommodate our Brady Bunch, and possibly you! We plan to name her Just a Kiss which describes our wonderful 2nd date back in 2015. Learn with us as we prepare to GTFO and sail the world! Kisses, Ann & Dennis
