Seacocks are bronze valves in a boat and are used as a safety measure for closing off holes below the water line and keeping water out of the boat for either maintenance or emergencies. We have 4 total on Seawind, and one of them has been giving us trouble for the past couple of years. I cleaned and greased this particular seacock, and ever since, it's seeped a bit of water into the boat. Escaping the storm. Sailing through squall after squall in the Indian Ocean. We shedded our sail and were reduced to hand steering the boat through the dark of the night. It was unpleasant yet character building.
