This weekend people all over the country (and the world!) are greening their houses, their workplaces, and their cities in preparation for the holiday season. Why not let a boat be part of the fun?! Here in Gig Harbor, Washington we have a great maritime culture, and every year there is a holiday boat parade where people festoon their boats with lights, and circle the harbor after sunset. It's fun to view both from the water and from land, taking in the holiday lights from both sides. Whether your town has an event like ours, or not, there's no reason not to head to the water this holiday season and let the dinghies get some love too! Hope you'll join us in #GHBWDeckTheHulls and share your photos with us on social media!

The current Greece / Turkey border crisis reminds me of our encounter recently at the Greece Turkey sea border off the coast of Kos. Not exactly 'Greece under attack' as some media reports have been saying but it demonstrates how it's not just about rubber dinghies full of immigrants or refugees. This jetskier easily evaded the Hellenic Coast Guard high speed boarder patrols, dropped off a passenger on Kos and returned to Turkish waters in the space of about 20 minutes! Now we're in Spain the border crisis feel just as bad with near daily Maydays on our VHF from migrant boats entering Spanish waters from Morocco. _________________ PLEASE NOTE: YouTube have disabled comments on most of our video blogs (and on other family channels) due to safeguarding issues regarding minors on the YouTube platform. The days are ticking by now - already at Day 4. Today is normally the family day, all the young and budding sailors come out to inspect their dream boats. It is fun on the stand as the kids always have interesting questions to ask! Yesterday was a full day filled with sunshine and rain, giving everyone chance to wear all of their outfits including the foul weather gear! Tomorrow should also be interesting as it is not on a holiday, for the first time I believe. Exciting stuff here in Annapolis! On the stand today we are focusing on Autoprop, our funny looking sailboat propeller. There is nothing funny though about its performance, saving you 25% in fuel - come find out why on tent B1!
